യാത്രക്കാരെ ഇറക്കിയ ശേഷം വിമാനം എയര്‍പ്പോട്ടില്‍ പാര്‍ക്ക് ചെയ്ത സമയത്താണ് ഏവരെയും ഞെട്ടിച്ച് വിമാനം റണ്‍വേയിലൂടെ നീങ്ങാന്‍ ആരംഭിച്ചത്. തുടര്‍ന്ന് സുരക്ഷാ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര്‍ വിമാനത്തിന് അടുത്തേക്ക് എത്തിയെങ്കിലും പറന്നുയരുകയായിരുന്നു. ഹൊറൈസണ്‍ എയര്‍ ക്യു 400 വിമാനമാണ് അജ്ഞാതന്‍ പറത്തിയത്. വിമാനം പറന്നയുടന്‍ എഫ്-15 വിമാനത്തില്‍ സുരക്ഷാ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര്‍ പിന്തുടരുന്നിരുന്നു.

വിമാനം മോഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെട്ടതായി അധികൃതര്‍ ഇതുവരെ സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. എന്നാല്‍ വിമാനം അനധികൃത ടേക്ക് ഓഫ് നടത്തിയതായി അലാസ്‌ക എയര്‍ലൈന്‍സ് ട്വീറ്റ് ചെയ്തു.

We’ve confirmed a Horizon Air Q400 that had an unauthorized takeoff from SeaTac around 8pm has gone down near Ketron Island in Pierce County, WA. We’re working to confirm who was on board, we believe there were no guests or crew on board other than the person operating the plane.

അമേരിക്കന്‍ ഐക്യനാടുകളിലെ വിമാനയാത്ര നിയന്ത്രണ സംവിധാനമായ ഫെഡറല്‍ ഏവിയേഷന്‍ അഡ്മിനിസ്‌ട്രേഷന്‍ ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ജാഗ്രതാ നിര്‍ദേശം നില്‍കിയിരുന്നു. മോഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെട്ട വിമാനം രാജ്യത്ത് സുരക്ഷാ പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങളുണ്ടാക്കുമെന്നും ഫെഡറല്‍ ഏവിയേഷന്‍ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി.

വിമാനവുമായി കടന്നയാള്‍ക്ക് വ്യോമഗതാഗത നിയന്ത്രണ സംവിധാനവുമായി ബന്ധമുണ്ടെന്ന് അധികൃതര്‍ അറിയിച്ചു. പറക്കുന്നതിനിടെ ഇയാള്‍ എയര്‍ട്രാഫിക് കണ്‍ട്രോളുമായി ആശയവിനിമയം നടത്തിയതായും റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടുണ്ട്. ആത്മഹത്യയാണ് തന്റെ ലക്ഷ്യമെന്നും അത് വിമാനത്തില്‍ തന്നെയാവണമെന്നും ഇയാള്‍ പറഞ്ഞതായി ചില ട്വിറ്റുകള്‍ പ്രചരിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. സംഭവം തീവ്രവാദ ഭീഷണിയല്ലെന്നും ആ്ത്മഹത്യ ശ്രമമല്ലെന്നും സിയാറ്റില്‍ ഷെരീഫും ട്വീറ്റ് ചെയ്തു.
